My Thoughts on Greys Anatomy

My Thoughts on Greys Anatomy

Now this weeks blog is really off topic! And I mean really off topic but I felt like I just had to express my feelings on this matter.

Now if you did not know I am a huge huge HUGE fan of greys anatomy… HUGE! I have been watching this show live since season 3 and it is now up to season 14. It has literally been in my life for over 10 years!

Now obviously the show has had off seasons where the story lines are just horrible. I feel like recently this ‘off season’ has been happening for the last 3 or 4 seasons! I have stuck around because I am so invested in these characters… they have been in my life for 10 years. They are almost like my best friends, as sad as that sounds!

Now I don’t know if you have heard but recently two actresses got ‘let go’ for ‘creative reasons’! Now you would think these actresses are small characters that have been in it for a season or two but no you are wrong! These two characters have both been in the show for over 9 years! The actresses did not want to leave, they loved their work and were always very interactive with their fans! For me if they wanted to leave themselves I would have been fine with this whole thing! I would have understood because they wanted to move on! But no they were let go for ‘creative reasons’!

Using creative reasons as an excuse actually makes me very angry! Yes I get it the show has been on for so long you need to freshen up and get some new story lines but fans don’t want to invest in new interns! We love the show because we love the characters and keep watching because we are invested in their lives! As I said using creative reasons is not an excuse and if anything it actually confirms what I had been thinking about the last couple of seasons… that they just cannot write good story lines anymore!

Take for instance the start of this season, season 14! It started off with Owens sister coming back she had surgery and was literally out of there after 3 or 4 episodes? Why did they not drag out the story longer? Then there was also the Nathan, Meredith and Owens sister triangle that literally was in it for an episode and bam! Resolved! It’s almost like they have an idea chuck it in the show for 1 or 2 episodes and then resolve it? What about the whole episode surrounded by Bailey who had a heart attack… and was literally fine by the end of the episode? Let’s even bring up jos husband who came into 1 episode… and then was literally killed off in the next? Like where is the creativity in that? That whole story could have been over 4 episodes at least! I also almost forgot Amelia’s brain tumour which again was resolved so quickly!

I feel like the last couple of seasons have just been all over the place in terms of good stories! The stories are out there, all it takes is some creativity which obviously the greys writers do not have at the moment! This is evident when they fire two of the most beloved characters for ‘creative reasons’! They use the excuse that the show has been running for so long blah blah blah, and that these characters have run their course blah blah blah! People don’t want to watch a show just about Meredith who is apparently wonderwoman and everything goes her way… all the time! It’s boring and to be honest Meredith has never been my favourite! People are invested in the show for all the main characters not just one!

Now I still have not mentioned who the two actresses are that are leaving. I mean if you are a greys fan you should already know but the two actresses are Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew who play Arizona Robbins and April Kepner, two characters that have been in the show for over 9 years! These two and Alex are my favourite characters so it makes sense the news really hit me hard! I am not ready to say good bye to them and for such a rediculous reason! Like I said if they wanted to leave themselves I would have been happy for them but the way the writers have handled this is appalling! There is still so much to tell about these characters! So many stories we have not learnt about them and it makes me said that the creators of this show think that they are dispensable!

Anyway I am really happy to get all that off my chest it has been making me so angry for the last 2 weeks! I am such a huge fan of greys but this has hit me hard and I don’t know if I can come back from this! I will be watching the season until the end to see where my favourite characters end up, but after that… I cannot invest in these new intern story lines with actors who are just not up to scratch! It makes me think they just want to bring in new characters and interns because they don’t have to pay them much at all! But anyway that’s for a whole other discussion! Come the end of this season I will be no longer watching greys anatomy and I hope… I hope the show just ends because how many more characters are on the chopping block? Obviously the writers think only Meredith is worth keeping because ‘it’s called greys anatomy’ blah blah blah! People have invested in the other characters and you can’t just cut them away and expect their fans to stick around I am sorry!

Anyway now I will wrap this up for good! Sorry the blog was completely off topic I just really wanted to get it off my chest!

Make sure you follow me on all my social media! I may make a video on YouTube about this because I am really upset about this decision!

Let me know your thoughts on the matter! Are you happy, sad, angry that they are leaving?

How to get to Erawan Falls from Bangkok

How to get to Erawan Falls from Bangkok

I decided to make this blog post to help anyone out there trying to get to Erawan Falls from Bangkok. Before I went I had to read so many different blog posts and do so much research on how to get there and where to go… it can be a bit confusing and scary especially if you are by yourself like I was!

But let’s just get straight into it; Here is how to get to Erawan Falls from Bangkok:

First off you need to make your way to kanchanaburi. To get there you can either take a taxi/minivan, a train or a bus. The bus is the cheapest option and is the one that I chose, so this blog will tell you how to get to kanchanaburi by bus!

Now I did a lot of research and the best place to catch a local bus to kanchanaburi was from Bangkok’s southern bus terminal (sai tai mai), they leave quite frequently which is very handy!

To get to the bus station you need to get a taxi or a bus. I caught a taxi which was a lot easier. Once you get there you need to go to the top floor… which thank god I knew from my research otherwise I would have gotten so lost! They have no signs in English telling you where to go so just remember to head up! It then gets even more confusing from there because again nothing is signed so you need to ask the people working there where to go, which again can be difficult because most of them dont really understand English!

After asking where to go I got pointed in one direction by one Thai person and then another direction by another, in the end I just walked around until I found somewhere where you could get out of the building… that was my logic! After walking around not knowing where I was going I saw a security guard and behind him was a ramp down… I figured this had to be where I needed to go, so I asked him and he nodded! Success!

It can be so scary when you have no clue where you are going, but I guess my advice would be to just not be scared to ask where to go!

So the bus number you need to catch is 81 and if the ticket station for kanchanaburi isn’t open like it wasn’t when I went you need to head to platform 10 where you buy your ticket from the people sitting at a table before you get on the bus!

When I went, I got on the bus thinking I would just buy the ticket on there. Luckily I saw this couple in front of me looking at their tickets and asked them where they had gotten them from and they told me outside… if I had been caught without a ticket who knows what would have happened! So yes remember to buy it before getting on!

The bus costs 110 baht for 1st class, takes about 2-2:30 hrs to get there and you get free water included!

Once you make it to kanchanaburi you are dropped off at the bus station where you then need to get on a local non air conditioned bus to get to erawan falls! The bus is signed with erawan written all over it!

I will warn you when you get off the bus from Bangkok you will be harassed by taxi drivers trying to take you there themselves, the local bus costs only 50 baht and takes an hour and a half. I recommend just taking the local bus.

Once you find that erawan bus.. which again isn’t signed so just ask where you need to go, you are done, just stay on that bus until you get to erawan!

Oh you also have to pay an entrance fee of 300 baht into erawan!

I recommend you stay the night in the park, you can get a bungalow… which is what I got, or a tent which is apperently quite cheap, I just didn’t want to do camping by myself! But if you stay the night it’ll save you having to come back a forth and also you can go walking after hours! Which is the best way to experience the falls! I highly recommend it!

So there you have it! I hope this is helpful for you and that I’ve described things in enough detail for you! If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

I also uploaded my vlog of Erawan Falls on my youtube channel! Be sure to check it out!

Recently I went on a trip to Thailand and had my first trip to Bangkok!

Now for those who have not been to Bangkok before… let me just put it this way, it is CRAZY! It is an absolutely chaotic city!

Khaosan Road

I personally did not like Bangkok at all! And here are my reasons…

First of all the taxi drivers do not understand you at all when you say where you want to go. Now I get that the city is huge.. because well it is huge (pictured below from the skybar), and I get that it would be hard to know every place in the city, but the taxi drivers are also very rude! The whole time I was there I had one decent taxi driver and that was the one from the airport! He still did not understand what I was saying but he did take initiative and asked for the places number so he could call them and know how to get there. That was a good taxi driver in my eyes! The rest of them it was scary if you got it in, not knowing if they would actually take you to the right place! I even had my Thai friend tell the taxi driver where I wanted to go and he still did not understand, I had also asked for the meter to be on and again he did not understand so I just got out.. I was not dealing with that at all!

View of Bangkok from skybar

Second of all was the smell! Bangkok has a constant rotten egg smell around the streets! It is a hot and sweaty place, which I am guessing is where some of the smell comes from. But I really do not recall ever being out in the streets and not smelling that weird disgusting smell!

Third, was just how crazy it was! There were people everywhere, which again I get it’s a huge city so of course there will be people everywhere, but sometimes it was just too much!

So I really did not like Bangkok, however it is a place you should go to atleast once in your life, just to experience the chaos! But I would definitely say you should only be there a day or two! I was there for about 6 days and it was way too long… way too long! Some people actually really enjoy it there, but it depends on what type of atmosphere you like! I am definitely not made for the hustle and bustle of a huge city!

The one thing I did really like about Bangkok was the little cafe/dessert place after you! You have to make your way to this place and try the ice cream! The cheesecake one is to die for (pictured below)! It is also where the original butter toast was created, in which you will see many imitations in other places in bangkok! Now do not forget “after you” because that is really the only reason I would go back to Bangkok!

I hope you enjoyed this insight into what I thought of Bangkok, let me know in the comments if you liked it? What you thought of it? And how long you stayed?

Travels and Tours

Travels and Tours

Tour group travels are a lot of fun. If you are considering travelling alone and it is your first time overseas I definitely recommend going on a tour group such as contiki or topdeck.

Tour groups provide you with the best opportunities to make new friends from all around the world. For a first trip overseas I highly recommend going on a tour as travelling by yourself for the first time can get very overwhelming. If you are going to a country that doesn’t speak your language it can become very daunting and scary trying to figure out where you are going or even where you want to go.

Tour groups do all the hard stuff for you, they set up where you will be staying, where you will be going, some of the meals you will be having and they usually provide you with a tour of the city you are in. They allow you to see so much of the world without the stress of figuring out how to get there.

I personally went on a trip with topdeck around Europe. I went on the 24 day tour that goes all around Europe; including Paris, Rome, Budapest, Krakow, Berlin and Amsterdam. It was an insane tour! The whole trip went by so fast and it feels like just yesterday I was there in Europe. The tour was absolutely amazing! Our group all got along so well and we all enjoyed each others company. We were a very close group and all loved going out at night together.

Through the day we would split off into our own groups but by the night time we would go out and party like crazy. I swear almost every night we went out and partied hard! The average bed time for me changed from being around 11pm to being 4 am. It was seriously the most fun I have ever had.

It was such a social experience that I absolutely loved! I am the type of person who struggles in social situations. So for me to be stuck on a bus with about 30 other people for 24 days was a huge step! It got me to get out of my shell and made me actually go and meet new people. So if you are a little shy, have social anxiety or just feel like you can’t talk to people a group tour is for you! It will help you grow your confidence, self-esteem and meet some amazing new friends which you will have for a lifetime.

Now all this socialisation and going out every night does get exhausting! Especially for someone like me who is an introvert! We were out almost every night as I mentioned earlier and we had to get up super early almost every morning. I think there were two mornings during the whole trip that we actually got to sleep in. Now, every other morning we had to get up at anywhere between 5:30 to 7 am. It usually worked out well though because all of us would sleep on the bus trips, which would last about 8 to 10hrs, so we usually caught up on our sleep during the day.

Although the trip was exhausting it was totally worth it! I seriously loved every moment I spent on that trip. It got me out of my shell and I was able to grow significantly as a person. My advice for going on a topdeck tour is to just enjoy the time you’re there! Just accept that you will be tired, exhausted and your life style will change while you are away. But it will change for the better! You will come back a better person with a lot more understanding about yourself.

I would definitely recommend travelling with a tour group, especially if it is your first time travelling! It allows you the get a feel for travelling without being completely alone. You get to meet some amazing people who will become your new best friends! You will have so many amazing stories from your travels with your new friends.

For now I will leave you with that! Hope you are having a wonderful day! Don’t forget to Follow all of my social media accounts!

Phuket Travel Guide

Phuket Travel Guide

Phuket Travel Guide.

Have you been wanting to travel to Phuket Thailand but you are just not sure where to stay or what to do?

This travel guide will give you some ideas and insights of places to stay and things to do in Phuket.

Where to stay:

Deciding where to stay while you are in Phuket is very difficult. You will be tempted to stay at Patong Beach because that is the most popular place for tourists to stay while in Phuket. I urge you not listen to the temptation. Patong is a very busy and crowded place. I will admit it is probably the best place to go out and party all night, so if that is something you are looking for I would recommend you stay here. However, if you are like me and would rather have an adventure than drink all day and night then I recommend only staying one or two nights there, if at all. When I went to Patong I visited for one night. I did not even stay there and that was enough time for me.

I would recommend travelling down south and staying in Kata Beach or Nai Harn Beach. I went to Phuket for 9 days and stayed in Kata beach the entire time. It is so beautiful there. Although it is still a very big tourist area, the streets are quiet, and that is something you do not find in Patong.

Kata Beach, Phuket

If you are planning on staying in a couple of different places while you are there I recommend checking out Nai Harn and Phuket old town. Nai Harn is such a beautiful little area that is a lot more local than the other beaches in Phuket. There are not as many tourists and it is a beautiful place to just relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the island. Phuket old town is just amazing, with such beautiful architecture and amazing little cafes everywhere. We only spent an afternoon there and I wish we had more time to explore the beautiful streets.

Nai Harn, Phuket

All in all, for places to stay I recommend anywhere other than Patong, unless you are there just to party. There are many places that I did not even get to visit in which I am sure are amazingly beautiful also. I recommend Kata Beach, Nai Harn Beach and Phuket Old Town.

Things to do:

If you really want to explore the island I would highly recommend hiring a motorbike. A motorbike just gives you the freedom to travel around where ever you want and whenever you want. It is also a lot cheaper as taxi’s or tuk tuks cost quiet a lot in Phuket, and they do not budge on their prices, so keep that in mind.

As I mentioned above I recommend you check out Phuket old town, Nai Harn Beach and Kata Beach if you are not staying there. You can just do day trips to these places, which is what we did when we went to Nai Harn and Phuket old town.

Phuket Old Town

I also advise you to check out some of the night markets that are around. At the night markets, you can find some incredible food stalls as well as craft shops. The Karon night market is quite nice and not too big, so you cannot get lost. As it is small it makes it a lot more enjoyable to walk around, I highly recommend it. I also recommend the Phuket town night market. This one is huge and has many, and I mean many craft shops and food stalls around. I believe most towns have their own night markets on, so just do your research and see if there is one close to you.

For the real tourist things, I recommend seeing Phi Phi island, James bond island, the Big Buddha and the Wat Chalong Temple. For the island tours make sure you go early. The islands are very popular with tourists and if you go early you miss a lot of the rush. I have made YouTube videos about both the Phi Phi islands and James bond island tours I went on, so be sure you check them out. I also have a YouTube video on the Big Buddha and the Wat Chalong Temple.

Maya Bay, Phi Phi Island

If you are wanting to see elephants while you are in Thailand, please never ever ride them or see them in shows. Elephants endure great torture to be able to behave like domestic animals. The animal cruelty that is performed on elephant’s is horrendous and needs to be stopped. The only way to stop it is for tourists like us to stop paying for it, as it is what the tourists wants that they will get. When I visited Phuket, I did a lot of research into elephant sanctuaries on the island. The only ethical one in Phuket that I found was the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary (linked here). This sanctuary is associated with Elephant Nature Park in Chang Mai. The elephants here have been rescued from the logging and tourism industry where they have endured so much pain in their lives. I am going to make a whole blog post about this topic because I am very passionate about animal rights, but in short, I highly recommend going to this sanctuary. I do advise to only book on their website as some people try to take you to the other sanctuaries in Phuket. I also made a YouTube video linked here on the elephant sanctuary.

Phuket Elephant Sanctuary

So, there you have it. my recommendations for places to stay and things to do in Phuket. Phuket is a beautiful place and the Thai people are so lovely. If you are going there for a family holiday, a solo adventure or just a relaxing trip away I can assure you that you will love it there.

Thanks for reading.

Do you have any recommendations for things to do in Phuket?
